All About Becoming a Laser Technician

Laser hair removal is becoming more and more popular, both as a career and as a personal service! If you’re looking for the opportunity to get started with a career in the beauty industry, becoming a certified laser technician could be the right choice for you! This course can provide the essentials for you to be a laser technician, and it can also be a great addition to an esthetics education. Either way, laser is a shorter and simpler way to get into the world of beauty! We’ll look at all of the basics you’ll need to know about getting started with your laser tech profession.

Get Educated

The first step to becoming a licensed laser technician is to attend a laser tech program. These are offered all over the country and are usually much shorter than conventional beauty programs. At The Studio Academy of Beauty (TSAOB), our program is 88 hours long and can be completed in as little as 11 days! Most other programs have similar time frames, with most concluding in under two weeks.

Laser technician education is important because, similar to estheticians, laser technicians have to follow many health and safety guidelines. The education can ensure that both you and the client are safe. Our program is designed to help our students pass the licensing requirements to become a laser technician within the state of Arizona.

What Do I Learn?

Individual programs may vary, but most laser tech programs teach the same core set of information and techniques, including:

  • Laser hair removal
  • Photofacials
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Skin tightening
  • Tattoo removal
  • Cellulite therapy
  • And more!

The laser tech program at TSAOB is designed to equip you with all of the skills you need to be an effective laser technician. We want our students to be able to secure employment and be successful as soon as possible!

What Can I Do With a Laser Tech License?

Part of helping our students succeed after completing our program means helping them understand ahead of time what they can do with their education! There are many options out there for you to pursue, so it’s up to you to strive for what you are passionate about!

Work in a Physician’s Office

The field of medical esthetics is expanding rapidly, and there is an increasing need for medical estheticians as well as medical laser technicians. In a medical facility, you would often be performing services for people as a part of their recovery process.

Expand Your Esthetics Skills

If you can offer your clients more services, they can offer you more money! Expanding your expertise as an esthetician can help you to have more business opportunities you might not have otherwise had. Not only that, but you are also more attractive to employers if you can provide extra services beyond the basic requirements for an esthetics or cosmetology position!

Work in a Spa

This may be the obvious answer, but the wonderful thing about working at a spa is that you can choose a work environment that you absolutely love! Many spas can look and feel different from each other, so having the option to choose what kind of work environment you want to spend your working hours in can help you be satisfied with your work! You even have the option of working in a spa or med spa using their laser equipment. Some people will choose to get an esthetics education to complement their laser training so they can do more at the spa they work at.
