Top Tips for Balancing Beauty School and Life
Starting beauty school is a big deal! There is so much to look forward to! Learning new skills, meeting new people, and pursuing your passion. However, just like any new life change, it can sometimes feel hectic.
At The Studio Academy of Beauty, we want our students to have a great school experience, not a stressful one. We’re here to offer support, so here are some tips on balancing beauty school and life.
Find a Schedule that Works for You
Figuring out what your schedule will look like for the next several months is important for time management. Luckily, beauty schools often offer a variety of different schedules to their students. We know our students have busy lifestyles. That’s why both our cosmetology and esthetics classes are flexible. You can take classes during the day or at night, in either full-time or part-time schedules – it’s totally up to you!
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help
Starting beauty school is a big change and with any big change, it can sometimes make your life feel a little more hectic. To help combat this, surround yourself with the people you care about most. They’re more likely to help you when you need it, but more importantly don’t be afraid to ask for help, especially at your school.
At The Studio Academy of Beauty, we have resources to help our students succeed. Life is going to get busy and there will most likely be times where you’ll need help and that is okay.
Find Study Buddies
In cosmetology school, you’ll be surrounded by lots of new people who all have similar interests as you. These are people who can give you support and advice on how to stay balanced because they know what you’re going through.
They can help you if you’re struggling with a certain technique and study with you in preparation for the State Board exam. Cosmetology school is a great time to make new connections and friendships that will be beneficial in your future career!
Set a Schedule/Routine
You’ll be juggling many different responsibilities while you’re back in school, so it’s important to learn effective time management. Never underestimate the effectiveness of a schedule. A schedule can allow you to further plan and know exactly how much time you have.
Purchase a day planner or use the calendar app on your phone to keep track of your work hours, homework assignments, exam dates, and other important dates. Also, remember the most important part of starting a new routine, is to stick with it.
Use Financial Resources
Finances shouldn’t be the reason why you don’t pursue your beauty school dreams. While finances can be stressful there are many types of financial aid assistance and scholarships out there that can help offset the cost of going to cosmetology or esthetics school.
Beauty school finances are an investment into your future and using your financial resources can help take off some of the stress of paying for it. The Studio Academy of Beauty is an accredited institution that offers financial aid to those who qualify.
Reward Yourself
Finally, when it comes to balancing beauty school and life, the most important thing you can do is reward yourself. Treating yourself is a great way to stay motivated and remind yourself that you are doing great! Take yourself out to dinner after acing that quiz or get yourself those new shoes after scoring high on that project!

Do your best to stay focused and not sweat the small stuff. It can be easy to become overwhelmed and lose sight of why you’ve decided to return to school.
