What Does an Esthetician Do?

Esthetics has become an important part of the health and beauty industry. A person who has an esthetician license has the opportunity to learn a lot of skills! An esthetician specializes in cleansing and beautifying skin. Their range of skills can include facials, makeup application, waxing, lash and brow tints and more!

People see estheticians as a great resource for help with specific skincare needs. They can help with acne, aging, dryness and other skin problems. An esthetician can also give their clients advice on how to maintain and take care of their skin between visits as well!

Requirements To Become an Esthetician

There are certain state requirements a person must meet before being allowed to start a skincare education. The state of Arizona outlines four different steps to becoming a legal and licensed esthetician.

Complete an esthetics program from an accredited school.

The school you choose to get your training at is important. You want to choose a school that is nationally accredited and has a curriculum that will prepare its students to sit for the school boards. The Studio Academy of Beauty is one of these schools and also has a great staff that cares about the success of their students in the world of beauty.

The Studio Academy of Beauty’s esthetics course is a 600 hours program with both daytime and evening programs available. They teach:

  • State law and business practices
  • Sciences for esthetics
  • Facials
  • Hair removal
  • Advanced treatments
  • Makeup
  • and more!

A good cosmetology school can help prepare you for the state exam.

Complete an application and register for the state exam.

After you’ve taken the required hours for an esthetics program the next step is to apply for the state exam. In Arizona, an applicant must have at least two years of high school (or the equivalent) or be at least 23 years old to apply.

Sit for the state boards.

Once you’ve been approved to sit for the exam, the next part is to take it! It’s very important to go to an institution that teaches its students the necessary skills they need to know so that you have the best chance of passing along with your hard work and passion for skincare.
