Preparing for Back to School at TSAOB

Going back to school can be fun, because you get to start learning new skills, making new friends, and working toward your dream career. There are a few things you can do to make your first week of beauty school a good experience. Learn how you can prepare for your first week of school at the Studio Academy of Beauty!
Take a Self-Care Day!
Take care of yourself by having a self-care day! We recommend doing something for your physical and mental health. First, take care of your body by taking a bubble bath, doing a facemask, or going to a yoga class.
Next, do something for your mental health! This can be something as simple as listening to your favorite song, or going to your favorite place. The purpose of a self-care day is to put you in a positive headspace. Going to school with a positive attitude can make a huge difference in your outlook on beauty school.
Create a Sleep Schedule
You might be used to staying up late and sleeping in. That can all change depending on the schedule you chose. It’s a good idea to get on a sleeping schedule before school starts so that you’re not tired the first week.
To get in the habit, set your alarm for the time you would be waking up for school. Sleep can help you be prepared both mentally, and physically.
Find Comfy Shoes
A comfy shoe can make all the difference! You might be spending a lot of time on your feet if you are doing hair or giving facials. Working in our student salon* can be a fun way to gain experience, but having shoes that support your feet can make all the difference!
*All services in our salon are provided by students under the supervision of licensed professionals.
Pack a Bag of Essential Items
You never know when you’ll need something, so it’s good to come prepared. There are a few items that students commonly reach for:
- Water bottle
- Deodorant
- Gum or mints
- Snacks
- Notebook
- Pen or pencil
There are always opportunities to take notes and write important dates down. Snacks and a water bottle are important to keep your body going. Deodorant or a breath mint can come in handy when communicating with a client.
Set Goals To Stay Motivated
Set some goals for yourself! You should know the start date and end date of your program. Set some goals that line up with that time frame! The goals could be as simple as build communication skills, or learn how to cut hair.
Set some long-term goals, too, such as build a portfolio of my work or get a job at a local salon. Printing out pictures or making a list of your goals is a start! If you can see a clear vision of what you want, you will be more motivated to go to school each day.
Pick Up Your Beauty Kit
You might have a beauty kit for the program you are in. A beauty kit has all of the tools and resources you’ll need to start your dream career! These kits are exciting, because they can be full of makeup, hair brushes, facial tools, manicure and pedicure sets, and more! Check with your school to find out what’s in your beauty kit!
