Beauty is a Growing Industry
As long as people have hair, there will be a need for hairstylists and barbers. Haircuts are not always something you can do at home, and who doesn’t enjoy getting pampered every now and then? A salon experience can be vital for the health of your hair, and is a great escape during hard days.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the projected job growth for barbers, hair stylists, and cosmetologists is 8% by the year 2028. This is higher than average for all occupations. If you’ve ever considered a future in beauty, now could be a great time to get started!
New Jobs in Beauty
The beauty industry evolves every day, and this can create the potential for new jobs! In the past few years, and even as recently as 2019, we have seen the uprise in a number of new beauty-related occupations.
Beauty Influencer
This is one of our favorites! A beauty influencer can be a flexible title for anyone who promotes certain companies, does tutorials, or teaches others about beauty related topics like the importance of cruelty-free products or drug store ‘dupes’ for high end makeup.
Influencer marketing has taken the world by storm. According to a study by the Digital Marketing Institute, 86% of marketers incorporated influencer marketing into their strategies. They also estimate that the influencer marketing industry is expected to reach $10 billion in 2020. While this includes a wide range of influencers and products, the beauty industry has a strong foothold in online influencer marketing.
Eyelash Extension Specialist
It seems like eyelash extensions have been getting more popular every day! As this is still a relatively new field, it can be a valuable skill to learn. According to a study by ABC News, the market for false eyelashes is booming and is projected to reach more than $1.5 billion in the next five years in product alone. A foundational education in cosmetology or esthetics could help you expand your skills into a field such as eyelash extensions.
