Scholarships Opportunities

Scholarships are also an effective way to pay for beauty school. Many organizations offer scholarships for beauty school students that don’t have to be repaid. Common sources include:

Tips for finding scholarships:

  1. Start your search early—many scholarships have deadlines months before your program begins.
  2. Read the eligibility criteria carefully and confirm you meet all requirements before applying.
  3. Apply to multiple scholarships to increase your chances of receiving funding.
  4. Keep your applications organized; track deadlines and requirements for each scholarship.
  5. Proofread your applications—typos or errors can disqualify you.

Some scholarships are available even after you’ve enrolled, so keep searching for opportunities you may qualify for.

Subsidized Loans

Subsidized loans are need-based, with the government covering the interest while you are in school, during the grace period, and during deferment. This provides you with a financial advantage, as the interest does not accrue during these periods. Eligibility is determined based on financial need.

Unsubsidized Loans

Unsubsidized loans, on the other hand, are not need-based, and interest begins accruing from the time the loan is disbursed. While you have the option to defer interest payments until after graduation, choosing to pay interest while in school can save you money in the long run.
